The armature (aluminum wire/foil) is completely covered with clay and the figure starts to emerge. The relative proportions of the two figures are determined and scaled (are the couple near the same height or one taller than the other?).

The basic head shape is roughed in and the wedding cake topper portrait starts to emerge. For the portrait -the relationship of the facial muscles, bone structure, size & shape of the head, eyes, nose, mouth, chin, and ears are taken into account. Even the neck and the posture of the chest can make a difference in creating a realistic image for the custom wedding cake topper. |
